Aberdeen - Player Trading
When a player leaves Aberdeen the club may make a profit on the deal. If the player is sold for more than their book value it is a profit, for less a loss.
The graph below shows that there was hardly any profit or loss made up to 2007. This is in marked contrast to Hibs who have gone down the same route of nurturing young players, but seem to have benefited to the sum of roughly £13m over the last ten years.
The 2007 shows a leap when Russell Anderson left, the 2008 figures include Clark and Hart.
There would look to be a big opportunity for Aberdeen if they can get their youth set up to produce a good set of players.
The 2009 figure shows that no one left for any exciting sort of money.
