Directors

The graph below shows the total amount of money paid to the directors of the club.

The figure was fairly flat up to 2004 and then began to rise steadily. The huge leap in 2007 came from Sullivan and the Gold brothers suddenly paying themselves a total of £970k. The figure dropped to £530k in 2008.

The only other example of this sort of leap in pay that could be found was at Newcastle in 1996, the year before they became a PLC. That year the directors/owners paid themselves a collective £2.5m something that would not have been possible once the club ownership changed hand.

Through the vast majority of the time period shown, the highest paid director has been Karren Brady.
