Birmingham- Income

This graph shows the breakdown of the money Birmingham has taken in since 2002, the total coming to just under £205m in that time.

The amount of money coming into the club is key to its ability to compete. The ups and downs show how much difference it makes to be getting the Sky money when in the Premiership.

Income

The graph below shows the split of the income across the areas the club report. The only, obvious trend, is that if you play in the Premier League you get more money in.

Income split

The final graph shows the split of the income for 2008. The bums on seats amount is the biggest. This is a good sign. To compare with Bolton and Portsmouth, say, is interesting. Bolton have 72% of their income from Sky, and 10% from people attending the games; Portsmouth have 70% from Sky, and only 17% from people attending. If either were relegated form the Premier League they would have huge financial difficutlies.

The changes in the importance of each of the streams is shown below. This suggests that the main two sources of income, the match receipts and the broadcasting money, are just items the club has no control over. The 2008-2009 results would be expected to dip again.
