There are several ways for directors to take money out of the club. The obvious one is through a salary, the other is through paying dividends on profits, and the last is through paying a business you own for your services.

The amount being paid in salaries was £204,000 in 2008. On top of that Peter Ridsdale's company supplied consultancy, in the form of Mr Ridsdale, to the tune of £325,000. In 2007 the figure that his company took for his services was over £1m.

In 2004 and 2005 Sam Hammam similarly paid his own company a collective £800k for his services.

The total cost of directors for the years reported is just under £3m.
