The amount of money coming into the club is key to its ability to compete. Cardiff have hugely overspent in the period covered, by a total of £32m. There are two ways to address this either by spending less, or bringing in more money in. The 2008 figure, with its Cup run, is about as good as it can get for Cardiff while they are in the Championship.
