Player Trading
Cardiff had to offload as many players as possible in 2005-2006 to cover the bad financial position. In 2008 the profit was on Ramsey.
The graphs below show fees paid and then the net spend. The graph shows that since 2005 the club has been a net seller of players. Only by selling players has the club managed to survive financially.
The yellow column is a measure of how much the club have backed their managers. So altogether over the 7 seasons shown, the club have signed cheques to the value of nearly £11m to bring in new players. The 2009 fees paid for Chopra, Hudson and Quinn are not included yet.
There is a difference the profit shown in the upper graph and the net spend shown in the lower graphs due to the way accountants account for the value of players that have been bought then sold before the end of their contracts,
