Newcastle United - Football Finances
7th June 2007
This site has been in existence for just over two years, but it has come to a natural end now.
I began in raw fury at the comments made by the club chairman that he had never taken a penny out of the club. I was calmed down by some good pals who then helped me create a site that was as far as I could make it, based on facts. These facts came from the club accounts, the figures were the ones they had published.
The aim was to just let the figures speak for themselves. To let the readers of this site come to their own conclusions about how inept the directors were at running the clubs finances.
From the many emails I have had I know that many of you also went through the "raw fury" stage too. From the 90,000+ hits this place has had I hope everyone who came here also left with a clearer view of where our money went.
Ashley seems to have succeeded in his buy out of the club. This will probably mean the club not being publicly quoted any more, and that the club accounts will not be as readily accessible. Without the figures this place cannot continue. I refused many requests from people to include information they 'knew' to be true about alleged poor business practice within the club, but that could not be backed up. I see no need, and have no desire to keep this site going. For completeness I may publish a page at some point that summarises the money made by the Halls and Shepherd families, but they've gone, at last, and we can all start to move forward again.
John Hall saved the club back in the early 1990s, taking over from an incompetent family-run board. Lets hope Mike Ashley can o similarly and sweep away the mess left and we can have some fun again.
