When a player leaves Norwich the club may make a profit on the deal. If the player is sold for more than their book value it is a profit, for less a loss.
The graph below shows that normally the club neither makes nor loses much money on transfers, except for the odd year when things go really well. The two big sales of course being Bellamy and Ashton. These are double-edged transfers. The fans love these young players and are upset to see their departure, while the club has huge financial benefits from the deal
