This
graph shows the Profit & Loss for each side in 2008. This may be viewed as being
unrepresentative due to it being a snapshot of a single season. The season by
season analysis is in the sites for each individual club. The St Mirren profit
came from the ground deal, Rangers from their Uefa run, and selling Hutton. The
Hearts figure is vastly better than the previous year but it does include
the one-off fee they received on selling Craig
Gordon.
It is probably
fair to say that, in the long run, most fans would not want their club to making
either a profit or a loss. Ideally all the money a club brings in should be
spent on improving the club. This may be through better players, or a better
ground, or a youth academy.
